Beverley minster is a large imposing building near the centre of the
town. It mainly dates from the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries as it
is now but there has been a religious building on the site since the
eighth century. The photographs above show the west door and the nave
looking west.
My interest lies in the carvings it holds,
there are said to be over 60 green man carvings here. A selection of
those I found are shown below and also a face-puller misericord. There
are many other misericords in the minster but most are kept folded down
and access is not allowed so they were not photographed. The green man
carvings show a variety of styles though most are disgorgers. I also
included a photograph of a head disgorging roof decorations.
