Castlerigg

This is one of the most well known and visited circles in England. It is usually overrun with visitors, many of whom clamber over the stones and should be shot, but the day I took these photographs I was alone for around 20 minutes. It was cold, wet and raining but this only served to add to the wonderful atmosphere of the circle and the surrounding hills. The photograph above is taken looking west across the circle.
