This is referred to as both a Bronze Age burial mound and a stone circle and is located at the edge of Harwood Dale forest, just off the Scarborough-Whitby road.
It was probably a chambered tomb and the stones which now form a circle were the outer kerb stones, however it may also have been a tomb surrounded by a stone circle.
It measures just over thirty feet in diameter with a few of the central
stones remaining, these probably formed a cyst . There were cup and ring marked stones found within
the Barrow when it was excavated and these are now in Scarborough
museum.
