A well known cross which stands by the roadside on Blakey Ridge just
north of the Lion Inn at a crossroads. It is the symbol of the North
York Moors National Park and as such its image is commonplace.
Tradition has it that people often leave small sums of money atop the
cross, if you find some there you may keep it, if not you must leave
some; this still occurs but as the cross is so high it means climbing
upon it. Unfortunately the cross has suffered much damage in recent
years and has required repair so this practice should be discouraged.
It is only a short walk to nearby Old Ralph .
