Hart Leap Stones

Stone Row
NZ 73476 03555

This pair of stones is said to mark the distance leapt by a dying deer at the end of a long chase by hunters. The distance is just over forty feet and the nearest one is inscribed 'Hart Leap' though it can't be discerned in the photograph.

It is more likely the remains of a stone row or other such construction though there is little evidence for the existence of other stones. There is, however, a standing stone not far away.
