Three Howes (Blakey) |

Despite its name, and the photographs here, there are actually four
howes on this site. They are situated on a spur of Blakey Ridge
overlooking Rosedale not far from the top of Rosedale Bank.
The
northerly is the smallest standing 0.6m high (not shown above). The
westerly one stands 2.4m high on one side. The southerly barrow stands
2.4m high and the easterly 2.5m high.
It appears that
all of the barrows once had kerb stones around their edges and although
excavation has taken place there are still large portions of the site
intact.
