This is a series of seven aligned bronze age round barrows found in
Dalby Forest. This first photograph shows the northernmost barrow which
lies to immediately to the north of the forest drive.
The
second photograph shows the next howe in line which lies immediately to
the south of the forest drive. Most passing motorists probably don't
even notice they are there as they drive between them.
The
third photograph is of the area containing the remaining five barrows.
The third in line is quite prominent in the foreground then two other
dark patches show barrows four and six. The fifth is barely visible
between them. The seventh barrow cannot be discerned in the photo and
lies to the east (left) of barrow three (the nearest).
You
may notice a horizontal line in the grass just above the frontmost
barrow, this is the remains of an old pathway that runs through the
alignment passing just this side of barrow six.
The site is known as Three Howes because only three of the barrows are easily discernable.
