This fine example of a broch overlooking the bay near
Struanmore probably once had walls reaching a height of around thirty
feet.
The walls were double and often had steps running between them to gain access to the upper levels as shown below.
The
inner part of the broch probably contained a courtyard with timber
enclosures for livestock and buildings against the wall. The photograph
below shows the inner area of the broch.
