Fountains Abbey

Fountains is listed as a magnificent abbey  and it certainly has a large portion of it still standing, but I was disappointed in my visit there. It did not have the same peaceful atmosphere as somewhere like Rievaulx, this may have been due in part to the large number of noisy children screaming around the ruins at the time of my visit.

My main reason for visiting was to photograph the green man and this I did successfully, he is shown below. There is also a photograph of the vaulted cellarium which I managed to capture without any other visitors showing.
