  St Mary

The spire of St Mary's can be seen from some distance, soaring upward from the central tower between the transepts. The church itself is of cruciform design and was developed in the twelfth century, the spire, at 120 feet, was added in the fifteenth century. There is a good deal of interesting medieval work in the church and two items of note are a misericord and the font, both dating from around 1200 and pictured below.

On the north wall of the chancel is a carving said to be part of a medieval chest, it has four panels, three depicting dragons and one of a male displaying his genitalia whilst standing on another person. There are other interesting carvings on bench ends and choir stalls, thought to be from the fifteenth century.
