This was originally a Saxon church later extended to the north and
east. The Saxon portion remain in the tower and what is now the Lady
Chapel but would have been the chancel. There is some argument as to
whether the Saxon portion was indeed built then or is in fact early
Romanesque.
The church is interesting and worth a visit
but devoid of any interesting carving, not even the ubiquitous remains
of a Saxon cross embedded in the walls.
In the south wall
of the Lady Chapel there is a sedilia and piscina (possibly Romanesque)
which are shown below along with an interior shot of the Saxon portion.
