This is an attractive country church which appeared to be promising as far as carvings go. The Romanesque arch on the main door is surrounded by carvings, see below, and I had hoped for a similar interior.
Unfortunately my hopes were dashed by a padlock barring all entry and no indication as to where a keyholder may be found - this really annoys me. To make matters worse there was a poem in the porchway welcoming all to free access to the church. Grrr.
The middle photograph shows the left-hand upright with carved head and fluted spiral column, below the head you can see a scratched sundial to the left of the column. |
