Mystery sightings of lights contniue
|
Reports of strange lights in the skies above Scarborough and Ryedale continue with more sightings claimed this week.
On Wednesday night two women say they saw lights above Malton and Norton between 11.30 pm and midnight.
Georgina Dale, 21, and her friend Lisa Graham, 19, saw the lights as they drove on the outskirts of Malton.
Georgina said: "The lights were flashing for a time and then two sped
off, leaving two of them to circulate. We watched them for 10 minutes
and they were definitely not helicopters or planes."
On the same night a Scarborough woman, who asked not to be named, said
she and her partner saw two bright lights in the sky over South Bay at
5.20 pm.
Most of the recent sightings took place on Tuesday 10 October when
lights were said to be seen over Scarborough, Scalby, Sleights and
Goathland.
A spokesman for RAF Staxton Wold said the incident had been investigated.
"We established that four American F15 fighters were manoeuvering for
air-to-air refuelling with a tanker off Scarborough at about the same
time."

Comment
It is likely that all of these sightings relate to the refuelling
exercise. Many people who see aircraft at night misinterpret them,
especially if they are not very familiar with them.
