This is a cathedral-like church in the centre of a small Norfolk
village. The area was once famous for weaving and the name of the
village still refers to a type of cloth.
The church is
large and open inside, with rows of later box pews in the nave, the
rear part near the tower is open and adds to the feeling of space. It
is well decorated throughout though growing a little shabby now.
Of
interest to me were three green man figures, two in the north aisle on
the ceiling and a further, more modern version, in the south aisle near
the chancel. There is also what appears to be a mouth-puller in the
south aisle a little further up. I had the feeling that there had been
more carvings of interest here but they are long gone.
