Osmigarry Stone

Standing stone

I am not certain of the provenance of this stone, it is not marked on a map or referred to in any of the texts I have read, I discovered it by the roadside when visiting the nearby museum.

On the other side of the road there is a smaller stone which has fallen, this suggests they may have been gateposts - the stone has a hole cut into the side. Whether they were erected as gateposts or whether existing standing stones were re-used I have no idea.

I have included it out of interest.
