Sheela-Na-Gigs

The church at Bilton is very interesting, some parts existing from the original Saxon building. The two sheelas are hidden away in the vestry, they were originally on the external corbel table but became internal features when the church was extended. The figures aren't too clear but with a little studying you can make them out. If you visit his church take some time to look around at the other historic features, it is well worth putting an hour or so aside. I was lucky enough to visit it alone one evening, it was lit up and looked quite magnificent.
